GRiT (Get Ready in Trades) Program
is a trades-focused career exploration and development program created for youth with disabilities and barriers to success.

Learn about many IN-DEMAND, Skilled Trades Careers, and find a clear path to explore, train and get support as we expose you to meaningful employment possibilities where you can excel!

Work At Your Own Pace
Selections’ Program Includes:

Introductory Skills Training for over 40 Trades, including Carpentry, Plumbing, Mechanics, Welding, Hair Styling, Culinary Arts, and much more!

Required Trades Safety Certifications, like H2S Training, WHMIS, First Aid, Confined-Space Pre-Planning, Food Safe, and more!

Information on Apprenticeship, Training, College level courses, and accessing financial grants, bursaries, and loans

Career Exploration Opportunities with local Trade unions and employers

Job Club Preparation Skills (taught in-class), including resume building, job search, interview skills, basic computer skills etc.

Employment Placement Opportunities and Job Matching with local employer partners

Transportation support to attend training, interviews and job placement
-
Financial Support for the purchase of safety equipment and required attire for work placement
Who Is GRiT For?
Youth with disabilities, who are Interested in Trades Occupations:
-
16-29 years of age
-
with a disability (self-disclosed or documented)
-
legally entitled to work in Canada
-
capable of self-administering medications
-
able to arrange for transportation independently

We’ll schedule Your Career Planning/Intake Meeting, where we’ll identify your skills, strengths, interests, needs, and desired outcomes.
Now the fun begins!
We’ll get you signed up to start some in-house training and external certifications! You’ll join our JOB CLUB, where you’ll explore your skills and interests while preparing to search for employment that best suits your abilities!
