Service Eligibility
The following are guidelines that all individuals in the SELECTIONS program must be aware of:

Service from SELECTIONS requires mandatory membership  - all clients must  pay a yearly membership fee (July to June)  - 1 payment of $120 or 12  monthly payments of $10 each.  Membership fees must be paid prior to commencement of services.

Service is available through contract funding (if space is available) or individualized funding as required or requested.

SELECTIONS provides employment and traditional volunteer career  opportunities on a full or a part-time basis depending on individual needs, choices and work site availability.

Transportation is the responsibility of each participant and their residential/home supports. Staff may provide transportation for Career Explorations and interviews.

While on assessment or career explorations, all individuals are covered by SELECTIONS  liability insurance and Worker’s Compensation.  During  employment or  volunteer placement, Worker’s Compensation is covered by the employer. SELECTIONS  maintains liability on all its participants.  Staff members carry appropriate vehicle  insurance for transporting clients when required.

In all work situations the individual is expected to comply with company policies and procedures as outlined by their employer.

Individuals must take medication independently.  Staff are not permitted to administer medication of any type.

Individuals work with a Coordinator in establishing their Individual Career Plan.  Discussions with parents/guardians and/or residential staff regarding the individual’s performance occur on an ongoing basis and as required/requested.  The Coordinator will act as the liaison to the employer.

SELECTIONS likes to ensure that there is ongoing communication with parents and/or   guardians.  This is done through telephone calls, letters and meetings.

Holidays: as the individual works for a private employer, holidays are subject to their approval. Please discuss holiday requests with the Coordinator and the employer

Appointments: appropriate notice should be given regarding doctor’s appointments or days off required - subject to employer’s approval and notification of the Coordinator.

Individuals accepted into the program must have all necessary forms completed and meet Service Eligibility Criteria.

Individuals under guardianship must have guardian approval.  If the individual is under  guardianship, a copy of the Guardianship Order is required for the individual file.

On occasion AISH confirms employment with SELECTIONS.  You are therefore required to submit your pay cheque stubs to the AISH office on a monthly basis.

This information applies to all clients participating in the SELECTIONS program and may need to be referred to throughout your involvement.  As changes occur updated correspondence will be provided.
